Description

These Sausage Crescent Rolls are the perfect combination of flaky, buttery pastry and savory sausage. With just a few simple ingredients, they make an easy, crowd-pleasing appetizer, breakfast option, or snack. Perfect for parties, brunches, or even quick weekday breakfasts on the go, these rolls are golden, cheesy, and bursting with flavor.

Ingredients

Scale

1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough

½ lb (8 oz) breakfast sausage (pork, turkey, or chicken)

1 cup (4 oz) shredded cheddar cheese

1 tbsp cream cheese (optional, for extra creaminess)

1 tsp garlic powder

½ tsp black pepper

1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)

1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  1. 🔥 Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. 🍳 Cook the Sausage:
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage, breaking it into crumbles, until browned and cooked through. Drain excess grease and let it cool slightly.
  3. 🥄 Prepare the Filling:
In a bowl, combine the cooked sausage, shredded cheddar cheese, cream cheese (if using), garlic powder, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
  4. 🥐 Assemble the Rolls:
Unroll the crescent dough and separate it into triangles along the perforated lines. Place a spoonful of the sausage mixture at the wide end of each triangle, then roll tightly toward the pointed end, tucking in the sides slightly to seal the filling.
  5. 🖌️ Egg Wash:
Place the rolls on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the tops with the beaten egg for a glossy, golden finish.
  6. 🔥 Bake:
Bake in the preheated oven for 12–15 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown and the dough is cooked through.
  7. 🌿 Garnish and Serve:
Let the rolls cool slightly before garnishing with fresh parsley, if desired. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

Make-Ahead: Prepare and refrigerate the filled rolls up to 24 hours in advance. Bake when ready to serve.

Variations: Add diced jalapeños for a spicy kick or swap cheddar for pepper jack cheese.

Freezing Tip: Freeze baked rolls in an airtight container for up to 2 months. Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 10 minutes.
